Great Britain Railway Maps 1924: the "Big Four" Box Set
Railway Maps of Great Britain 1924: the "Big Four" Box Set from The Old Book House combining the publishers’ four separate maps, each presenting the main route run by Britain’s four leading railway companies:
- the Great Western Railway’s Paddington to Penzance line
- the Southern Railway’s Waterloo to Padstow and Ilfracombe line
- the London & North Eastern Railway’s King's Cross to Mallaig line
- the London Midland & Scottish Railway’s Euston to Inverness line
Each map shows the whole route divided into separate panels printed side by side. All stations along the route are marked and annotated both with distances from the London terminal to the final destination and from the end of the line back to London. The maps also show tunnels and other railway lines connecting to or crossing the route, indicating sections closed since 1924. All along its course each route is annotated with comments on various features of the line and local sights, etc, including text describing changes since 1924.
Each title is presented in an elegant card envelope with an introductory essay providing more historical background, and is also available separately.
